Community Right To Know
|
The principle of CRTK recognises the rights of individuals to access information about chemical hazards present in the community and the environment. This access means the community is better informed about the management and regulation of the risks associated with chemical use in industry.
As well as access to information, CRTK allows members of the community to enter into dialogue about the chemicals with industry experts.
Australian Vinyls is committed to the principle of Community Right to Know (CRTK). To translate our commitment into action we:
|
- participate in regular meetings with members of the local community
- provide annual sustainability performance reports for our plant
- invite community representatives to form part of our plant's Environment Monitoring Team to observe and provide input into specific plant affairs, such as reviews of major incidents and to implement the Environment Improvement Plans
|
- invite members of the Environment Monitoring Team to attend audits of the plant by government authorities
- communicate promptly to community representatives about matters that may be of interest or concern to the community
- maintain an up-to-date web site which, in turn, provides access to our annual and other reports and key documents
- support the Vinyl Council of Australia, the industry’s peak body, to distribute information on the life cycle of PVC and PVC products
- welcome local students or other members of the community to attend the open days and plant tours that we host at Laverton.

Australian Vinyls appreciates the time local community members give in engaging with the company and values their input.
